22 NOVEMBER 2006: Kordia™ has been busy this week living up to its new brand identity, bringing people and technology together as one.
Last night, Kordia™ launched a 12-month Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) pilot in Wellington, which will be replicated in Auckland from next week. Over 100 customers, media and government stakeholders attended the launch, and were treated to a live demo of the new DAB pilot.
DAB allows better reception, clearer quality of sound, interactivity (including pause, rewind and record), scrolling text, electronic programme guides, music download, content delivery and more.
Last weekend, Kordia™ was delivering on its expertise in broadcast and telecommunications, helping Rally New Zealand successfully deliver a world-first in live coverage of an international rally event - the ‘Live Eye in the Sky'.
"Our Video Links team installed a microwave heli-link to provide live helicopter video footage of cars racing over the dirt roads of the Waikato back to the studio at the Mystery Creek rally base," says Hunt. "This live footage was then transmitted onto big screens at the venue, out to Sky Sport 3 and then on to other international broadcasters," he said.
Kordia™ also produced a 350kbps video feed for internet access by international fans - a first for both the rally and for Kordia™'s expert team.
"Kordia™ is all about harmonising people and technology, and in our first week of the ‘new us', we are really pleased to be able to demonstrate that we mean business with this new brand," says Hunt.
The company is looking to leverage opportunities in the convergence space to help grow the business by 65% in the next two to three years.
