Sixty years. That’s half a dozen successful decades of delivering TV and radio to 99% of the New Zealand population over our analogue network.
Our involvement in analogue broadcasting has given us the expertise needed to successfully move into a new phase of broadcasting. It's why we're part of a steering group that is preparing the industry for this new phase.
Think digital television. Digital radio. We’re playing a pivotal part in delivering these broadcast technologies to Kiwis.
We’re taking the industry from analogue services to digital through Freeview; a current selection of 19 free-to-air digital radio and TV channels available to New Zealanders with no monthly subscription.
Kordia has played a leading role in the introduction of digital television to New Zealand – from trial broadcasts in the late 1990s, to working with the Ministry for Economic Development to develop the UHF spectrum plan, through to working with the major broadcasters and key industry bodies to make it a commercial reality.
Terrestrial digital television has now been deployed across the majority of New Zealand.
